College roundup: Boise State, Idaho will meet at CenturyLink Arena

STATESMAN STAFFSeptember 18, 2013

BOISE — For the second straight season, Boise State and Idaho will play a men’s basketball game in Downtown Boise. This year’s game is Nov. 27, the night before Thanksgiving. The game time has not been announced. The contract is for two years and the teams will meet on the day before Thanksgiving in 2014. The Broncos won last year’s meeting 78-68.

Unlike the football programs, which have not met since Boise State left the WAC for the Mountain West in 2011, the basketball teams have met each season. Idaho is in its final year in the WAC, and begins Big Sky play next season in all sports but football. For seating purposes, the arena will be split in half to accommodate each school’s fans. Tickets initially will be sold through the schools before going on sale to the public Nov. 1. CenturyLink Arena will also host Idaho and Idaho State on Dec. 20. Ticketing for that game will be handled in a similar manner with a general on-sale date of Nov. 20.

BSU WOMEN’S GOLF: Freshmen Genevieve Ling and Jamie Donizio each carded three-round totals of 1-over 217 at the Bronco Fall Invitational at Falcon Crest Golf Club, finishing tied for second in their first event as members of the program. The Broncos (882) finished second as a team behind Santa Clara (875).

COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S SOCCER: Nicko Moreno scored two goals and the Coyotes (1-4, 1-0) withstood a late barrage to beat Northwest Christian 3-2 in the Cascade Conference opener at Simplot Stadium in Caldwell.
