First day of autumn just a week away; prepare for some chilly nights this week

September 15, 2013

Say goodbye to highs in the 90s — which Boise hit on Sunday — and hello to cooler fall temperatures. High temperatures this week will be in the 70s and low 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Overnight lows will dip down to the 40s, and that's normal for this time of year. The highs next weekend will be in the low 70s.

Storms brought a bit of rain to Boise over the past few days: 0.05 inches Thursday, and 0.01 inches Friday. Passing storms to the west and northwest of the Treasure Valley brought spotty rain showers to Boise late Sunday and early Monday. The rest of this week is expected to be dry, with the best chance of rain coming next weekend.

The forecast for this week shows the high Monday at 83, Tuesday at 82 and Wednesday at 70.
