UPDATE: Mountain Home man charged with shooting wife appears in court

September 15, 2013

A Mountain Home man accused of shooting his wife early Sunday was arraigned in court Monday afternoon.

Police arrested and charged 29-year-old Matthew R. Lindstrom with aggravated battery.

An initial investigation indicates that Lindstrom and his wife were arguing and involved in an altercation when a .45-caliber gun went off, police said. Officers were dispatched to Lindstrom's home to investigate a report of shots fired.

The woman was rushed to a Boise hospital after she suffered a gunshot wound to her chest, according to police. The incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m.

The condition of the victim, whose name was not released, was not available Sunday.

Police declined to release any information about the woman Monday morning, and directed inquiries to the Elmore County Prosecutor's Office. The prosecutor also refused to give out information about the victim, including her name and whether she lived or died.

However, neither the Elmore nor the Ada County coroner's office had received a case matching the woman's description and injuries as of Monday morning.

A no-contact order was filed for Lindstrom, according to court records.
