Borah defender transfers to California school

September 14, 2013

Hawkins Mann, a Boise State commit who was a standout defensive lineman at Borah High before the season started, has enrolled at John Burroughs High in Burbank, Calif., according to the @myBurbank Sports Twitter account.

“BREAKING NEWS: Boise State verbal commit Hawkins Mann enrolled at Burroughs. 6’4” 220 defensive end is a senior transfer. All-State in Idaho,” the tweet said.

MyBurbank.com reported Friday that Mann recently moved from Boise to Burbank. “After one week in practice, Mann could be described as a ‘Mann-child’ with his imposing figure, tremendous skill level and relentless energy. Mann, who wore No. 51 along the sidelines but did not play against North Hollywood (on Friday night), hopes to be cleared by the CIF in time for the Indians next game against Camarillo,” the site reported.

Mann did not suit up in Borah’s first two games, and school officials have declined to comment to the Statesman.
