Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State, Idaho pick up victories in Broncos' tourney

BOISE - Boise State defeated North Texas 25-21, 25-16, 27-29, 25-19 on Friday, the second day of the Courtyard Marriott Bronco Volleyball Classic at Bronco Gym. Aly Duffin had a team-high and personal-best 14 kills for the Broncos (4-4). Idaho won its second match of the tournament, topping Sacramento State 25-21, 25-13, 20-25, 25-9. Alyssa Schultz led the attack with 12 kills and four blocks for the Vandals (5-4). Sacramento State also lost to North Texas 25-22, 25-18, 29-27 in the other match of the day. The tournament concludes Saturday.

BSU SOCCER: Sophomore Brooke Heidemann scored the game-winning goal in double overtime, and the Broncos beat North Dakota State 1-0 in Grand Forks, N.D. Ashley Hruby recorded the assist for BSU (3-2-2).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE VOLLEYBALL: The Crusaders split matches at the Route 92 Showdown in Hayward, Calif., falling to Azusa Pacific 33-31, 25-21, 25-22 before beating Humboldt State 25-21, 26-24, 25-21. Andrea Terpstra led the Crusaders (2-2) with 21 kills in the two matches, and Taylor Roberts added 31 digs.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Coyotes ended an eight-match losing streak with a 25-11, 25-10, 24-26, 25-9 win over Evergreen State in Caldwell. Liz Myers had 15 kills and six blocks for the C of I (1-7, 1-1 Cascade Conference), and Kylee Nawahine added 10 kills, 11 digs and four aces. The victory was the Coyotes' 72nd straight conference home win.
