The million-square-foot shopping and entertainment complex on Eagle Road and Fairview Avenue plans to unveil its second phase of attractions Oct. 18.

The October openings will include a cinema with a full restaurant, four other restaurants new to the area, and several retail shops. The Village will also have a full service Axiom Fitness gym with an indoor pool and a Bellagio-style musical water fountain.

"When we open in October, we're anticipating to have anywhere from 800 to 1,500 new jobs," said Hugh Crawford, general manager of the project, which is being built by CenterCal Properties. "Restaurant, movie theater, retail, as well as the jobs we're going to have from security, housekeeping, guest service positions, landscaping - all the services needed to operate a shopping center like this - so anywhere up to 2,000 jobs just in 2013."

Businesses set to open in October are taking applications now.

Available positions include restaurant chefs, servers, bartenders and bussers, personal trainers, store clerks and theater ushers.

"I spoke to Yard House (a restaurant) last week, and I think they're hiring 260 people at that restaurant alone - and at that time they had about half of the people hired," said Jill Houser, a workforce consultant at the Idaho Department of Labor.

Restaurants and stores will continue to open in stages throughout the next year. "What's coming in October is just the beginning," Crawford said.

Crawford said the fall schedule includes concerts, a Halloween festival, and visits by Santa after Thanksgiving.
