Mountain West Power Poll

ccripe@idahostatesman.comSeptember 13, 2013

1. Fresno State: The Bulldogs need a win at Colorado to set up a high-profile showdown with Boise State next week.

2. Boise State: Young defense will be severely tested by Air Force, Fresno State offenses.

3. Utah State: With game at USC, don’t count the Aggies out of the BCS picture yet.

4. Wyoming: Quarterback Brett Smith might be the most exciting player in the conference.

5. San Jose State: Renowned quarterback David Fales hasn’t found his groove yet this season.

6. Nevada: Should Wolf Pack rest banged-up QB Cody Fajardo rather than expose him to Florida State?

7. New Mexico: Lobos spoiled former Boise State assistant Sean Kugler’s coaching debut at UTEP.

8. Air Force: Falcons’ challenging schedule will make it difficult to reach a bowl game if they lose to Broncos.

9. Colorado State: The Rams appear to have taken a step this year. Now they need to finish games.

10. Hawaii: So strange to see this program become offensively inept.

11. UNLV: Rebels used to at least put up a fight at home. They couldn’t last week against Arizona.

12. San Diego State: The Aztecs will turn to a junior college walk-on QB after bye.
