By the numbers: Idaho’s unemployment rate rises for third month in a row

Statesman staffSeptember 10, 2013

The statewide rate hit 6.6 percent in July — an increase of 0.5 percent since April — and the number of Idaho workers without jobs surpassed 50,000 for the first time since November 2012.

Hiring slipped below normal, and seasonal government layoffs ran slightly higher.

The impact across the state was mixed: Jobless rates in and around Idaho’s cities declined, while higher rates were seen in many rural counties.
