Firefighters called to grass fire south of Boise Sunday afternoon

September 8, 2013

A resident near Vallejo Road and Raptor Lane burned some weeds Sunday morning, and he thought the fire was out. But the smoldering weeds turned into a small grass fire, a Boise Fire Battalion Chief JD Ellis said.

The grass fire was reported by several people just after 1 p.m.

The fire burned about an acre and a half in fields, but didn't damage any houses or outbuildings. Ellis said a wood fence may have been damaged.

Boise Fire called for a brush truck from Meridian, and a water tender from the Idaho Air National Guard. Firefighters were on scene for a couple hours.
