Amber Alert issued for Idaho girl

Statesman staffSeptember 6, 2013

An Amber Alert was issued Friday night out of Idaho Falls for a little girl who is believed to be bound for Mexico with one set of grandparents.

Police were trying to locate 5-year-old Aaliyah Alynn Esqueda, believed to be with her father's parents, Irene Ma Esqueda, 71, and Salvador Esqueda, 74.

Here's what police say happened:

• The other grandparents, Debra and Scott Yagues, have legal guardianship of Aaliyah and allowed visitation by Irene and Salvador Esqueda on Tuesday.

• Although Aaliyah was to be returned to the Yagueses on Sunday, a Facebook message was sent from a relative of the Esquedas indicating the Esquedas were taking Aaliyah to her father in Mexico. Police believe that information is credible.

• Police believe the three left Thursday from Idaho Falls on a bus headed for Mexico.

Aaliyah is described as 3 feet 5 inches tall and 50 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.

Irene Ma Esqueda is decribed as 5 feet 4 inches tall and 178 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.

Salvador Esqueda is decribed as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 160 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.

If you have any information, call Idaho Falls police at 208-529-1200 or 911.
