Lightning caused Eagle house fire

— Investigators with the Eagle Fire Department made the determination today, less than 24 hours after the resident on Kite Drive erupted in flames.

They reported the cause of the blaze as "natural causes."

"The natural phenomena was lightning," Division Chief Nevil Humphreys said.

The fire was reported at 6:44 p.m. Crews from Eagle, Boise and Meridian responded.

The people in the house were able to evacuate uninjured, Humphreys said.

The blaze caused enough damage that it is unlivable, according to Humphreys.

"They're not going to be in it for a while," he said. "The roof will have to be redone."
