By the numbers: Boise airport moves more stuff, fewer people

Freight shipments in and out of the Boise Airport were way up in July, but summer travel failed to take off as airport officials had expected.

Can a new flight to an East Coast hub airport make the difference? With a nudge from the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, more than a dozen local companies and organizations pledged about $160,000 toward a grant, which the airport hopes it will receive from the federal government to add service to New York City, Washington, D.C., Atlanta or Newark.
