Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State volleyball team nails down first win

PORTLAND — The Broncos went the distance against Gonzaga, winning 19-25, 25-17, 25-21, 28-30, 15-11 on the second day of the Northwest Challenge. Taylor Murphey led the Broncos with a career-high 20 kills. Later, host Portland State defeated Boise State 25-15, 27-25, 25-16. Katelyn Kinghorn had six kills and three blocks for Boise State (1-2). The Broncos play their first home match Sept. 12 against Idaho.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE/COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Crusaders defeated College of Idaho 22-25, 25-21, 13-25, 25-21, 15-8 in Caldwell. It was the first match for NNU coach Doug English.

IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Vandals earned two wins at the Wyoming Invite in Laramie on Saturday. Idaho defeated Drake 25-14, 30-28, 20-25, 26-24 in its first match. The Vandals later topped Stetson 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17 for a 3-1 record at the tournament.

IDAHO CROSS COUNTRY: The women’s team finished second and the men took third at the Clash of the Inland Northwest in Spokane. Vandals sophomore Halie Raudenbush won the women’s race with a time of 14:20.0.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO WOMEN’S SOCCER: Jamiece Yizar scored the game-winning goal for the Coyotes as they topped Biola 3-2 in overtime.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S SOCCER: Mid-America Nazarene defeated the Coyotes 2-1. Joseph Bolins scored the lone goal for the C of I.
