Colleges roundup: Boise State volleyball drops opener against Washington

PORTLAND — The fifth-ranked Huskies won 25-18, 25-26, 25-16 on Saturday at the Northwest Challenge. Taylor Murphey led the Broncos with 10 kills and one block. Sarah Horton added eight kills for Boise State, which plays Saturday against Gonzaga and Portland State.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO WOMEN’S SOCCER: Carroll defeated the Coyotes 2-1 in Helena, Mont. Jamiece Yizar scored the lone goal for the C of I.

IDAHO VOLLEYBALL TEAM: The Vandals defeated Montana State 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 in their first game at the Wyoming Invite in Laramie. Later, Wyoming defeated Idaho 23-25, 26-28, 25-21, 25-16, 15-2. Alyssa Schultz, the preseason WAC player of the year, had 29 kills for Idaho in the two matches.

IDAHO SOCCER: Washington State defeated the Vandals 5-0 in Pullman, Wash.
