Salem-Keizer takes final game of series vs. Boise Hawks

BOISE — The Volcanoes defeated the Boise Hawks 10-6 in front of a crowd of 4,072 at Memorial Stadium — the largest home crowd since 2004. Salem-Keizer jumped on Boise with a five-run third inning. The Volcanoes (21-14) took a one-game lead over Boise (20-15) in the South Division with three games remaining in the regular season. Hillsboro (20-15) is tied with Boise after losing 4-3 to Eugene late Friday night. Hillsboro and Boise begin a three-game series Saturday with a playoff spot on the line. Dillon Maples is scheduled to start for the Hawks, who have a better overall record than the Hops. The regular season ends Monday and the postseason begins Tuesday.
