No arrests made after Nampa SWAT team standoff

August 26, 2013

— No charges were filed against a man who barricaded himself in a Nampa home Monday morning.

A SWAT team and the Nampa Bomb Squad responded to the 11000 block of Orchard Avenue at about 10:30 a.m., and began trying to make contact with the man, Canyon County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Joe Decker said.

Decker did not release what prompted the standoff or why the man was not charged. He surrendered to the SWAT team just before 1 p.m.

Orchard Avenue between Middleton Road and Midway Road was closed to traffic during the standoff, and Nampa Christian High School was placed on soft lockdown as a safety precaution.
