The Little Queens Fire burning near Atlanta will likely not be contained until Oct. 30, officials say.

— A wildfire burning near Atlanta expanded to 20,956 acres by Monday morning.

Winds from the east pushed back an inversion that hung over the area Sunday, increasing fire activity. The blaze is 10 percent contained, and fire managers estimate that full containment could take until the end of October.

The wildfire grew 5,000 acres Sunday evning after winds shifted, officials said.

Nearly 400 people are working to get the Little Queens Fire under control. Helicopter water drops will continue Monday. Fire crews also plan to dig more fire lines north of Atlanta to protect the tiny historic town.

A mandatory evacuation order remains in effect for Atlanta’s 40 residents.
