Former Boise State tennis player headed to U.S. Open

STATESMAN STAFFAugust 26, 2013

Eric Roberson qualified for the main draw of the mixed doubles competition Saturday when he and his partner, Yasmin Schnack, defeated Matt Brooklyn of Great Britain and Stephanie Wetmore of Canada 6-1, 6-4 in New Haven, Conn.

Roberson, 25, played for Boise State from 2005-08. He was an all-conference performer and a member of three conference championship teams.

Roberson and Schnack lost in the final of the 2011 qualifying event and did not compete last year. It's their first appearance at Flushing Meadows.

"It's an amazing experience," Roberson told the News-Times after Saturday's victory. "A dream come true."
