Raymond D. Smith

— A 26-year-old man was arrested Thursday after being caught allegedly breaking into a vehicle in the 9100 block of West Barnes Drive.

Witnesses told police they saw a man later identified as Raymond D. Smith inside a vehicle parked in a parking lot. One of the witnesses approached Smith and saw him carrying items from the vehicle. After that person confronted Smith, the suspect dropped the items and ran away.

Officers from the Boise Police Department located Smith a few minutes later at a store and Overland and Five Mile roads.

Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Ada County Jail. He was charged with burglary and held on a warrant for failure to appear.

He was arraigned Friday and held without bail because of the probation violation. He is set to return to court Sept. 5 for a preliminary hearing.
