Local colleges: Boise State soccer drops opener to Idaho State in overtime

POCATELLO — Amanda Ellsworth scored in the 97th minute to give the Bengals a 2-1 non-conference victory Friday over the Broncos. Madeline Gochnour struck first for Idaho State (1-0) in the 70th minute, then Brooke Heidemann squared the match 4 minutes later. BSU hosts Creighton at noon Sunday.

UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO SOCCER: The Vandals lost their season opener 3-0 to Weber State in Ogden, Utah. The Wildcats outshot the Vandals 27-2.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Coyotes, ranked sixth in the NAIA national poll, fell to 0-4 with two four-set losses at the Red Lion Summer Slam Tournament. They fell to No. 9 The Master’s 25-21, 25-14, 12-25, 25-21; then to Vanguard 27-25, 25-17, 18-25, 25-23.
