New direct flights between San Francisco and Sun Valley start in December

The new seasonal daily flight service will run from Dec. 12 through March 30 and from July 2 through Sept. 23 for the 2013-2014 season.

SkyWest Airlines will operate the United Express flights using a 66-seat CRJ 700 jet aircraft.

The winter flight departs San Francisco at 10:40 a.m. and arrives in Sun Valley at 1:22 p.m.; the flight departs Sun Valley at 1:57 p.m. and arrives in San Francisco at 2:54 p.m.

“We are pleased to add Sun Valley to the list of worldwide resort destinations United serves,” Vic Kerckhoff, United’s director of leisure sales, said in a press release. “These new flights provide travelers from the San Francisco area and beyond with convenient access to the wide variety of winter and summer recreational and cultural activities Sun Valley has to offer.”

Sun Valley Resort, now in its 78th season, has two ski mountains with more than 2,000 acres of skiable terrain. The area is also known for its Nordic skiing, and is a designated U.S. Olympic/Paralympic Nordic training site.
