Lowe's lends a hand, and needs yours, too

Employees from Lowe's are leading a volunteer project at the Eagle Bike Park and looking for more people to join the effort.

Work days will be Saturday, Aug. 31, and again on Saturday, Sept. 7. Work starts at 8 a.m. each day. The park is located on North Horseshoe Bend Road about a mile north of State Street and about half-mile east of Idaho 55 off Floating Feather.

"We will have over 50 employee volunteers from four stores in the Valley working to add a walkway and retaining wall just above the pump track," said Debbie Lombard-Bloom of Lowe's.

"We will also have people available to do some general trail maintenance on the greater hill area while we are working on the hardscaping improvements," she said. "We have just short of 5,000 blocks and pavers to move for that area and work on the trails is always welcome."

The goal of the project is to make the pump track area better for spectators, and give them a place to relax and watch the riders on the trails and tracks.

In addition to making it safer for pedestrians, it will also help with a drainage problem that causes the track to get muddy.

The bike park is popular with all ages and is a friendly place for young riders to learn skills under their parent's supervision.

"We welcome everyone in our community that would like to come out on any of the days, for an hour or more to enjoy the experience and see what incredible progress has occurred at the park over the last few years," Lombard-Bloom said.

Lowe's Heroes is a companywide program that offers employees the opportunity to support local community improvement projects.
