PASCO, Wash. — Starter Dillon Maples (5-1) gave up five earned runs and suffered his first loss of the season as Tri-City defeated Boise 5-4 on Tuesday night. The Hawks had won nine of 10 games prior to their four-game skid. Kevin Encarnacion hit a first-inning homer, but Tri-City went on to build a 5-1 lead by the fourth inning. The loss allowed Hillsboro (15-11) to move one game ahead of Boise (14-12) in the second-half standings.

Æ Earlier Tuesday, the team announced four roster moves: James Pugliese was promoted to Class-A Kane County; pitcher Eddie Orozco has been removed from the seven-day disabled list and added to the Boise roster; catcher Cael Brockmeyer was placed on the seven-day disabled list (retroactive to Monday); and catcher Neftali Rosario was sent to Boise from Kane County.
