The official name and website for Idaho's health insurance exchange was revealed at a news conference Tuesday.

The website is

The exchange is where Idaho individuals and small businesses will be able to shop for insurance plans and see if they qualify for premium assistance. It will launch for enrollment Oct. 1.

Because Idaho's exchange must be ready to take new customers this fall, Idaho has decided to piggyback on the federal government's technology, essentially borrowing the federal engine to power the Idaho exchange website for the first year, until Idaho can create its own engine.

Idahoans will choose only from plans approved by the Idaho exchange board, as opposed to being able to choose from the plans that will be offered on the federal exchange.
