Ada County Pet of the Week: Oakland the Lab mix

August 20, 2013

Oakland, 4, is a neutered male, chocolate and white, Labrador retriever mix. Oakland was found as a stray and not reclaimed by an owner. Being a typical Labrador, Oakland is energetic and strong. He will need an active home that will give him a daily outlet for his energy, encourage self control and enforce boundaries. Oakland has done well in dog playgroups at the shelter and engages more in play with the other dogs as he gets more comfortable with them. He knows how to sit and lie down on command and appears to be crate-trained. Once he gets his initial energy out, he becomes a huggable guy. His happy-go-lucky attitude is irresistible.

Oakland can be found in kennel 326 (#20646293) at the Idaho Humane Society at 4775 Dorman St. in Boise. The shelter is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
