Deadline is Aug. 15 for second Idaho tag drawing

The application period for the second Idaho controlled hunt drawing for deer, elk and pronghorn hunts ends Thursday. The drawing will be Aug. 20. For information, go to fishandgame.idaho.gov.

Comments sought on some registrations

An open house is 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation office, 5657 Warm Springs Ave. in Boise.

The agency is reviewing the registration process for boats, snowmobiles, ATVs, motorbikes and UTVs and is considering going to a more simplified sticker program.

Registrations for motor homes, campers and camp trailers are not affected by the proposals.

Head to the mountain for hiking, biking and food

Hiking and biking trails and disc golf are open daily at no fee. Each weekend through Labor Day, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., there's a barbecue at the Simplot Lodge. For details, go to bogusbasin.org.
