Sunday traffic alert: Chipsealing on Overland Road

Statesman staffAugust 9, 2013

The Ada County High way District is alerting drivers that crews will chipseal Overland Road between Meridian and Ten Mile roads on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Work is scheduled to start at 6 a.m. should wrap up by early afternoon.

ACHD says drivers should expect delays, particularly at intersections where traffic signals will be in flashing red mode and flaggers are directing traffic. Drivers should also take it slow to reduce the chance of flying rock.

After the chipseal cures for about a week, the road will be sealed with a fog coating and new lane striping will be applied. ACHD says crews are ahead of their chipseal schedule by about a month. The chipsealing season, which covers 125 miles of road, should be completed the next two weeks. Next week, crews will chipseal the following areas:

• Ten Mile Road between Interstate 84 and Longmont Road

• Side and residential streets bound by Amity Road and Lake Hazel Road and Cloverdale and Five Mile

• Maple Grove Road between Franklin Road and Emerald Street
