College of Western Idaho nursing program receives initial accreditation

The College of Western Idaho in Nampa announced this week that its registered nursing program is approved for initial accreditation with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. The approval followed a site review in late January and a review of CWI's materials and curriculum.

Students who graduate from the program and pass the NCLEX national licensing exam will be able to transfer on to bachelor and graduate nursing programs and may have better job opportunities, the school said.

The designation also gives the program five years — until spring 2018 — to further develop areas of emphasis that were identified by the accrediting organization.
