Shotgun handling basic workshop set Aug. 10

The workshop, sponsored by the Idaho Chukar Foundation, is 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Black Dog Clays Shotgun Sports Shooting Facility, 7680 W. Vallejo Road in Boise.

It’s free and open to the public and will feature Phil Jones, general manager of Black Dog Clays. Go to blackdogclays.com.

Organizers says whether you’re a chukar hunter, an upland game bird hunter, or someone who’s interested in shooting sporting clays, the workshop will provide information about range and field shotgun handling.

Workshop’s curriculum includes:

• General safety in shotgun handling on the range or in the field.

• Wing shooting key: Listening to professional shotgun-handling instruction.

• Shotgun instruction and sports-shooting facility terminology.

• How to fit a shotgun for chukar hunting

• Shotgun practice for chukar hunting.

• Question-and-answer forum with professional shotgun instructors.
