BOISE — Dominic J. Tawney and Rodney S. Vancleave, both 19, are charged with six counts of arson in connection with a string of car fires early Monday.
Prosecutors said the men, along with a juvenile who has not been identified, used gasoline to torch the six vehicles in a Boise neighborhood.
Tawney and Vancleave were arrested after a witness gave a description of their vehicle to police. Officers stopped the suspects for speeding, and found physical evidence tying them to the car fires, police said.
Prosecutors asked for a bond of $150,000 for each man. The judge ordered a bond of $100,000 for Tawney, and a bond of $50,000 for Vancleave, whose attorney spoke at length about the mans ties to the community and familial support.
If convicted, each man could face up to ten years in prison on each count of arson. The boy arrested with Tawney and Vancleave is facing similar charges through the juvenile court system, police said.
Tawney and Vancleave are scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 20.
