Health care costs are high and rising. The universal health-insurance mandate starts Jan. 1. Insurance exchanges are taking shape in Idaho and elsewhere, so people who don’t yet comply can shop starting Oct. 1.

Vast sums of money flow into health care. That’s why the Idaho Statesman has made the business of health a coverage priority. I can think of no domestic business or government story more complex than health-care reform. We think it needs our time and attention. Yours, too.

Now we have created a web page to help you sort it out. The page, “The High Costs of Idaho Health Care,” is on IdahoStatesman.com. You’ll find a rich selection of our recent investigative, explanatory, personal-impact and breaking-news reports on the subject. You’ll find useful information from other Idaho sources, including wire-service stories and local columns. And you’ll find selected national stories on how the health reform law may affect you.

This is not a page for stories about wellness or medical research. There is little about the current political battles over Obamacare — when the House votes for the 41st time to repeal the law, plenty of other sites will report that. The page offers a unique blend of public-policy and what-it-means-to-Idahoans reporting and commentary. Find it in the pull-down menu that appears when you click on “Business” atop any page on IdahoStatesman.com.

We hope you find the page to be a useful resource. I welcome your ideas and comments.
