A detail of “Medicine Wheel.”

• The Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center on the 8th Street Extension will get the third in its series of four planned installations: Earth, Fire, Air and Water. The team of Marianne Konvalinka and Lynn Fraley won the commission for the Earth Node with their design “Medicine Wheel.” The installation includes a stone pedestal set with cast-bronze “offerings” (detail pictured above), a stone bench, pillars and a pathway. It will be installed in spring 2014.

• A call to artists for the Roundabout Project on the new Whitewater Boulevard (30th Street Extension) is complete. The finalists — Margo and Dennis Proksa of Blackrock Forge in Pocatello, sculptor Dirk B. Anderson of Idaho City and the team of mosaic artist Reham Pearson Aarti and metalsmith Kenneth McCall — are working on proposals. The public comment period will be Sept. 7-20. You can find images of the proposals and follow this and other public art projects at BoiseArtsandHistory.org/blog. You’ll also be able to view the proposals at Jerry’s Market, 819 N. 27th St., and Idaho River Sports, 3100 W. Pleasanton Ave.
