Mountain biking returns to Tamarack in August

July 30, 2013

— Mountain biking is coming back, and there are two weekends of races slated for August. Tamarack Resort Homeowners' Association has embraced the idea of having mountain bike events, and Wild Rockies Racing is adding spice to the trails. Working with CIMBA (Central Idaho Mountain Bike Association) and other volunteers, countless hours have been spent bring the trails back up to safe and flowing courses they were designed to be in the first place. Course designer Darren Lightfield is making sure everyone who comes to ride the trails has a quality experience whether they are racing or just recreational riding. Wild Rockies Racing's final cross country and downhill specific events will be Aug. 3-4. The Cross-Country event is going to be a 6.7mi. lap, featuring trails on the upper and lower mountain. The beginner riders race two laps, intermediates three laps and four laps for the experts/single-speeds and pros.

August 10-11 will be downhill racing. Chairlift operations begin in the morning and conclude with the final races. Saturday's 3-stage enduro race has a little bit of everything, so you can compete on a XC full suspension bike or DH bike. Combined times win them all. Sunday is pure downhill, so bring your bigger bike and prepare to hit some of the toughest trails resort has to offer. Find details about races go HERE.
