Coroner identifies drowned Meridian girl

— The Ada County Coroner has released the name of a teenage girl who drowned in Lake Cascade.

Evonne Thuc Nghy Tran, 15, was participating in a cross-country camp when she went swimming in the lake. Tran was underwater for at least 10 minutes before other camp members and bystanders pulled her from the water.

The teenager was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus in Boise, where she was pronounced dead at 1:55 a.m. Friday.

Her death was ruled an accident by the coroner.
