One dead after southeastern Idaho crash

July 27, 2013

— A 64-year-old woman was killed Friday evening after she failed to negotiate a curve on Idaho Highway 34 in southeastern Idaho.

Rebecca Putnam of McCammon was traveling south on Slug Creek Road, north of Soda Springs, at 6:57 p.m. when her 1993 Suzuki Sidekick went off the road on the northbound side. Putnam and her passenger, Bonnie Higgins, 51, also from McCammon were both ejected from the vehicles.

Putnam was declared dead at the scene. Higgins was taken by ambulance to Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs.

Neither woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to a report from the Idaho State Police.

The crash remains under investigation.
