Caldwell mother, young children injured in crash

July 26, 2013

— A collision at the intersection of State Highway 55 and Lake Avenue in Caldwell sent a woman and her two young children to the hospital Thursday night.

Jennifer King, 32, was driving westbound on Highway 55 with her one-year-old and seven-year-old when her pickup truck was struck. Idaho State Police said that Steven Jackson, 50, was driving north on Lake Avenue when he ran a stop sign. Jackson continued into the intersection and crashed into King’s vehicle.

The pickup truck overturned onto its passenger side, police said.

Highway 55 was blocked in both direction as emergency crews worked to get King and her children out of the wrecked truck.

All three were taken to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Nampa.

King has been released from the hospital as of Friday morning but information about the children's conditions was not available. Police said King was wearing her seatbelt, and both children were strapped into child safety seats.

Jackson was not listed as injured.

The eastbound lane of the highway was blocked for almost two hours Thursday night.

The crash is under investigation, police said.
