Boise Nationals win opener at national tournament

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Boise Nationals Italia U15 girls beat Tennessee 3-1 at the US Youth Soccer National Championships on Tuesday.

It was the state of Idaho’s first appearance at the tournament.

Qarli Stone (Eagle High) scored a hat trick to lead BNSC over last year’s national runner-up, while goalkeeper Celeste Santangelo (Eagle) had 12 saves.

BNSC plays defending national champion MSC Coyotes (Maryland) on Wednesday morning in the second of three pool-play games.
