— Former Eagle High state champion Ty Travis, who won the IGA Men's Amateur last weekend, earned a spot in this week's Albertsons Boise Open by surviving a Monday qualifier at Ridgecrest.

He fired a 66, then birdied the second playoff hole to grab one of the final five spots available. Playing as an amateur, Travis, 20, will make his debut in a professional tournament at the $775,000 Web.Com tour event, which is Thursday through Sunday at Hillcrest Country Club.

Travis also announced Monday he is transferring from Weber State to play golf at Boise State.
