Fire causes evacuation of Redfish Lake campground

July 22, 2013

Campers near Redfish Lake had to evacuate Monday afternoon because of a new fire in the area. The fire started Monday off Idaho Highway 75 near mile post 185.

Roads were blocked Monday, but Highway 75 re-opened to traffic Monday night. Idaho State Police said the fire is still burning, and smoke may impair visibility for drivers.

The 210 Road fire is burning on about 300 acres — that's about half of a square mile — in the Sawtooth National Forest. Officials with the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise say the fire is threatening some homes in the area and crews are reporting running fire behavior.

Police urged travelers to use caution in the area and to avoid the road if possible.
