Boise police: Man drinking in park kicks cop, gets arrested

July 22, 2013

A man who was receiving citations for drinking and being in Rhodes Park after it closed faces a felony after police say he attacked an officer.

Officers said they spotted Rudolpho Vela Camarillo, 30, in the park at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, almost an hour after it closed. Camarillo, who was drinking alcohol as the officers approached him, appeared intoxicated, police said.

As the officers were writing Camarillo tickets for having an open container of alcohol and for being in Rhodes Park past the closing time, he became aggressive, police said.

Camarillo kicked one officer before being physically restrained, police said. He was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail.

He faces a felony charge of battery on an officer, as well as misdemeanor charges of resisting and obstructing, open container violation, and being present in a Boise City park after closure.

He will be arraigned Monday afternoon.
