Garden City man charged with Front Street business burglary

July 20, 2013

A Garden City man was arrested Thursday after Boise police recovered several items stolen from a Front Street business and its employees.

Xaviar R. Trautwien, 39, was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of grand theft. He was taken to the Ada County Jail, where he remained Saturday in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Police say Trautwien entered the business in the 300 block of East Front Street overnight Tuesday and stole electronics equipment, tools, loose change and other items. Trautwien did not work at the business but had access to it through his job, which police did not disclose in a written release.

On Thursday, police obtained a search warrant and searched Trautwien's residence. Officers found several of the stolen items.

Police are still investigating the case and further charges may be pending.

Trautwien was arraigned Friday in Ada County Fourth District Court. He is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 1 before Magistrate Michael Oths.

Last year, Trautwien was charged with burglary in a case out of Nampa. That charge was downgraded to petit theft. He was found guilty in Canyon County Third District Court and sentenced to 365 days jail, with 270 days suspended.
