Ada County Commissioner Jim Tibbs underwent heart bypass surgery Friday morning.
He is recovering in a Boise hospital and it could be more than a week before he can resume his duties, said Commission Chairman Dave Case.
Tibbs went to a scheduled appointment on Tuesday and told the doctor he was experiencing indigestion. Upon completion of medical tests, he was promptly admitted to the Boise Veterans Hospital for observation and then transferred to a local hospital where he underwent bypass surgery.
Jims surgery went extremely well, and we look forward to having him back in the office soon, Case said.
Tibbs was elected to the commission in November. He also has served on the Boise City Council and as Boise police chief.
