Idaho's unemployment rate rose 0.2 percent in June to 6.4 percent.
About 1,900 more Idahoans were unemployed in June, according to the Idaho Department of Labor.
June was the second consecutive month the unemployment rate increased. The rate fell during each of the previous 21 months - a total of about 2 percent.
The number of Idahoans out of work increased nearly 1,900 to more than 49,000, the highest total since November 2012. The number of employed dropped 400 to less than 724,000, the lowest level since last October. The surge in total unemployment in part reflects an increase of more than 1,400 people entering the labor force in June and looking for jobs.
