Two Centennial High wrestlers win national titles

FARGO, N.D. - Centennial High wrestler Hayden Tuma repeated as champion after rolling past Missouri's Rodney Clevenger 8-0 in the 132-pound finals Tuesday at the USA Wrestling Junior Greco-Roman Nationals.

Tuma did not allow a point in the tournament and was named outstanding wrestler.

Tuma is a two-time FILA Cadet World Team member who will represent the United States at the FILA Junior World Championships next month in Bulgaria.

Centennial teammate Jon Jay Chavez recorded a first-period technical fall over Andrew Millsap of Kansas in the 152 finals. Chavez also won FILA Cadet Nationals in Greco and freestyle this year.

KIDS NATIONALS

Five Treasure Valley boys earned All-American status at the ASICS/USAW Kids Nationals in Orem, Utah, last month: Diego Martinez, 10 years old, Eagle, 75-pound intermediate, first in freestyle and second in Greco Roman; Angel Rios, 12, Nampa, 70-pound novice, eighth in Greco Roman; Christopher Martino, 10, Eagle, 60-pound intermediate, third in freestyle and seventh in Greco Roman; Dominic Martinez, 8, Eagle, 55-pound bantam, seventh in freestyle and seventh in Greco Roman; and Matthew Martino, 7, Eagle, 60-pound bantam, fourth in freestyle and seventh in Greco Roman.
