Boise Hawks win with strong pitching, late hitting

— Three pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout, and the Hawks used a three-run ninth to grab a 3-0 victory over the Hillsboro Hops on Tuesday night.

After stranding nine runners in the first eight innings, the Hawks broke through in the ninth.

Lance Rymel walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Carlos Penalver delivered an RBI double to bring in the go-ahead run, with Danny Lockhart plating a run with a suicide squeeze.

A Trevor Gretzky RBI fielder's choice capped the scoring.

Trey Masek picked up his first professional win.
