Man charged with felony after fight in Rhodes Park

July 15, 2013

— A fight in Rhodes Park landed a Boise man in jail Saturday night. Witnesses said that Billy Joseph Manzanarez, 48, and another man got in a dispute over alcohol.

Police said the argument turned violent when Manzanarez jumped on top of the other man, who was lying on the ground. He allegedly struck the victim several times in the face before leaving the park.

The victim could suffer permanent damage from his injuries, according to medical personnel who examined the man.

Officers arrested the suspect several hours later when he returned to the park. Police said Manzanarez was attempting to retrieve personal items that he had left in the park after the attack.

He was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on an aggravated battery charge.
