Man charged with rape, attempted murder in Friday morning attack

July 12, 2013

— A Boise man was arrested for rape and attempted murder Friday morning.

Ryan Wayne Kanady, 32, allegedly raped a woman Friday in her Boise Bench home at about 8 a.m., police said.

The victim, who knew Kanady, told police the man held a pillow over her face during the assault. She was suffocated to the point of losing consciousness, she said.

When the woman awoke, she was able to lock herself in a bathroom and call 911 for help.

Responding officers found Kanady in the woman’s backyard and took him into custody. Police said he refused to obey officers’ commands and resisted attempts to arrest him.

Kanady is charged with rape, attempted murder, and resisting and obstructing. He is currently being held in the Ada County Jail.
