Former Boise State golfer Graham DeLeat will play in next week's British Open, his first major, it announced Monday.

DeLaet, who's having his top season on the PGA Tour, received an email Monday morning from the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, which runs the British Open, one of four major tournaments.

"Just got email from R and A and I officially made the field for the British Open! So pumped! #firstmajor," DeLaet wrote on Twitter.

DeLaet will make his major debut starting July 18 at historic Muirfield in Scotland.

DeLaet is listed as in the field on the British Open web site. He made the field based on his standing in the Official World Golf Rankings, according to the British Open site. DeLaet is currently ranked No. 67 in the world.

DeLaet has played in 19 events on the PGA Tour this season and made the cut 16 times. He has five top-10 finishes and 10 top-25 finishes. The Canadian has earned $1.56 million and is ranked 23rd in the FedEx Cup standings.
