EILEEN BUTLER: Boise shines like a gem

READER'S VIEW: Boise's Sesquicentennial

July 7, 2013

My husband and I moved to Boise 30 years ago. At the time, he worked for Morrison Knudsen. I grew up in the Midwest and knew Boise, Idaho, from geography and that was about it. I didn't know what to expect.

From day ONE, I loved it here and it has been home. I always thought Boise to be like finding an emerald in a paper bag.

Looking in as an outsider, at first, there is nothing that revealing or exciting. But upon further examination, you find the priceless value of the Boise River, all the lovely parks, Boise Foothills, Greenbelt, Rose Garden and Zoo Boise, Bogus Basin, Lucky Peak Reservoir, Idaho Shakeseare Festival and more. Did I forget anything? Great place to raise kids too'

Yes, Boise is a true gem and I am happy I have gotten to see it shine for the last 30 years and grow and sparkle and accrue value more than ever. Thanks, Boise.
