Man injured after striking deer on Horseshoe Bend Hill

HORSESHOE BEND — Mike Basye, 54, was headed south on Idaho Highway 55 at about 11:55 a.m. Saturday when a deer ran onto the roadway.

Basye struck the deer, lost control and was thrown from his Harley-Davidson motocycle, according to a release from the Idaho State Police.

Basye, who was not wearing a helmet, was attended by paramedics at the scene. He was taken by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

The crash is still under investigation.
